# Types of Lines

Pairs of lines can be described according to how the lines cross, or don’t cross.

**Intersecting lines** cross to form angles.

**Perpendicular lines** are intersecting lines that form right angles when they cross.

Intersecting lines are not always perpendicular lines.

Perpendicular lines are always intersecting lines.

**Parallel lines** never cross. They are always the same distance apart. They do not form any angles.
